THE REBIRTH OF MALIBU by Lynn Bauer - The Malibu Hills took a beating in the Woolsey Fire of 2018. Many of the canyons and hills between Simi Valley and the Pacific Coast burned, and many homes were lost. I have been driving many of the canyon roads looking to see the rebirth of the land as spring is settling in...and, this scene just took my breath away! Gorgeous lush blue lupines (known as "Bluebonnets" in Texas) covered a hillside with views of the Santa Monica Mountains to one side and a beautiful canyon below! This land is truly being reborn in this year of the Superbloom of 2019! I am so thankful for the rains that California received this year and for the beauty that we are finding all around us!

I have spent most of my life living in Southern California where I have developed an appreciation for all the beauty provided by nature. I've been blessed to be able to visit gorgeous mountains, like the High Sierra, which is home to some of the most majestic sights on earth, such as Yosemite National Park, as well as making quick trips to the beaches of the Pacific Coast, if I want to spend an evening shooting a sunset. One of my favorite past times has been to spend the spring season hunting down amazing wildflower blooms...including two years of "Superbloom" seasons in 2017 and 2019.
