HEAVENLY WONDERS OF THE 2019 WILDFLOWER SUPERBLOOM by Lynn Bauer - The 2019 wildflower season has been termed a "superbloom," thanks to the rains we have received in California this year. Many of our hills are covered in pallets of various hues, because of the pretty flowers covering them! The Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve in on fire with the bright orange of the incredible poppy bloom there, and word of it has spread across the internet, bringing incredible traffic and crowds. Fortunately, I used to live in this area and have spent many years photographing the wildflowers all around the area...so, this year I went to some of my "secret spots," rather than going directly to the Reserve. This area has a beautiful mixture of flowers and the orange poppies on one slope contrasted beautifully with the bright yellow daisies (I think called monolopia) on the next.
I have spent most of my life living in Southern California where I have developed an appreciation for all the beauty provided by nature. I've been blessed to be able to visit gorgeous mountains, like the High Sierra, which is home to some of the most majestic sights on earth, such as Yosemite National Park, as well as making quick trips to the beaches of the Pacific Coast, if I want to spend an evening shooting a sunset. One of my favorite past times has been to spend the spring season hunting down amazing wildflower blooms...including two years of "Superbloom" seasons in 2017 and 2019.
