Description
THE RECYCLED ROADRUNNER OF LAS CRUCES by Lynn Bauer - This is a panorama image of Las Cruces famous Recycled Roadrunner. There have been a few iterations of this 20 foot high and 40 foot long roadrunner. It was originally created by artist Olin Calk back in 1993. He made it out of salvaged recycled materials he found at the city landfill, where the roadrunner resided for a number of years. Two times since then, it has been stripped down and "re-junked" due to wear from the elements, as well as from deterioration by "grabby visitors." After it's first "renovation," it was moved to a hill at a beautiful rest stop above the city, where it still sits today. The roadrunner is the state bird of New Mexico, and this creative creature is a wonderful tribute to that bird! If you look closely, you will find that there are all kinds of "junk" that make this bird up...including VW headlights for the eyes, hundreds of tennis shoes to form the body, and all kinds of interesting things in the wings and tailfeathers...keyboards, crutches, movie reels, beltsmovie reels, belts, horses, trains...anything and everything imaginable!!
This panorama image can be printed up to very large sizes with great detail.
