SUMMER DAYS IN MOUNT CRESTED BUTTE by Lynn Bauer - Summer days are beautiful in Colorado's San Juan Mountains. And, they are especially beautiful in Crested Butte, which has been designated as the "Wildflower Capital of Colorado!" On my drive from the quaint town of Crested Butte to the place we were staying in Mount Crested Butte, my eyes kept focusing on the bright pink flowers in the field in front of the mountain here. When I finally found the time to stop and explore, I found that this area was very swampy and I couldn't get out into the flowers the way I wanted to...but, I was still able to capture this wonderful scene with the pink fireweed and other various yellow and white flowers up against the pine and aspen forest on the mountain.

I have spent most of my life living in Southern California where I have developed an appreciation for all the beauty provided by nature. I've been blessed to be able to visit gorgeous mountains, like the High Sierra, which is home to some of the most majestic sights on earth, such as Yosemite National Park, as well as making quick trips to the beaches of the Pacific Coast, if I want to spend an evening shooting a sunset. One of my favorite past times has been to spend the spring season hunting down amazing wildflower blooms...including two years of "Superbloom" seasons in 2017 and 2019.
