HIGH DESERT WILDFLOWERS by Lynn Bauer was taken in Southern California's Antelope Valley on a beautiful spring day in 2015. This year the wildflowers are putting on a good show, in spite of the serious drought that California has been experiencing. Gorgeous orange California poppies are mixed with some type of purple gillia, which create quite a dramatic offering under the deep blue skies and wispy white clouds.
This was taken in an area which sits on the border of Lancaster and Palmdale in the AV (Antelope Valley). It is located within the Mojave Desert and is part of Los Angeles County.
I have spent most of my life living in Southern California where I have developed an appreciation for all the beauty provided by nature. I've been blessed to be able to visit gorgeous mountains, like the High Sierra, which is home to some of the most majestic sights on earth, such as Yosemite National Park, as well as making quick trips to the beaches of the Pacific Coast, if I want to spend an evening shooting a sunset.
