A view from the Japanese Garden located in Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California. Although I grew up in the San Fernando Vally, and still live only a half hour's drive away now...I just stumbled on this garden yesterday. According to the lovely woman working in the gift shop, these gardens have been around for 26 years!! This was a stunning place to spend time, and I can tell that it will be wonderful in all seasons...so I am sure I will be heading back there often! This large white egret was very comfortable in the garden, and he seemed to move leisurely from place to place, keeping a watch over the other birds. He was certainly ruling his roost! The gardens are meticulously manicured, and provide a beautiful setting for those looking for a quiet corner for peace, meditation, study, or just pure relaxation... oh...and, maybe taking a picture, or two!

I have spent most of my life living in Southern California where I have developed an appreciation for all the beauty provided by nature.
