BLUEBONNET FIELDS FOREVER by Lynn Bauer - There's just nothing like a beautiful field full of Texas bluebonnets in the spring! And, this one has some of the best...Texas bluebonnets, white poppies, and red and yellow indian blankets (also known as firewheels.) Such a beautiful scene!!
Taken in the Texas Hill Country.
***********************************************
The bluebonnet was designated the official state flower of Texas in 1901. Also called buffalo
clover, wolf flower, and el conejo (spanish for "the rabbit"), Bluebonnets are to Texas what the shamrock is to Ireland. The bluebonnet is not only the state flower - Texas has also designated an official bluebonnet tartan, song, city (Ennis, Texas), festival (Chappell Hill BluebonnetFestival), and trail (also in Ennis). The bluebonnet flower is named for the color
and sunbonnet-shaped petals.
Please be sure to check out my galleries for both "Wildflowers," as well as for the state of "Texas."
